Oh to be a fly on the wall or a fashion photographer at the latest Banana Republic SS12 showcase in New York last week – lots of stunning fashion and people on show! We like to take our inspiration from event’s other than weddings and in this case there is no shortage of inspiration for the stylish man getting married. There is nothing better than a groom who invests in his own style on his wedding day and wears a beautifully tailored and dapper suit to match up to his equally stylish bride. Tim & Amy – “A wedding in reverse”

Today’s beautiful video is brought to you by Tim Twinem of Velare Imaginarium an incredibly talented cinematographer from Denver, Colorado. Tim filmed this video of an old school friend of his (another Tim) who was marrying Amy. Both Tim and Amy are creative people, Tim is a musician and Amy an Artist so Tim knew that the normal ‘wedding highlight’ video wasn’t going to be enough so he decided to create something unique which broke away from the norm. He came up with the concept of shooting their wedding not only in slow motion but in reverse…to capture every moment and expression of their special day. Tim believe’s that powerful story telling can be perfectly captured not only with slow motion but great music. We particularly love how watching something like this makes you see the wedding so differently and it tells their story beautifully.

Good news is that Tim is looking to travel to Ireland in the future and is looking for the opportunity to work with a creative couple who are looking for something special from their videographer. I know if I was getting married in the morning Velare would be there capturing my special moments! Decorative Backdrops for adorning space at a wedding ceremony or reception. We love all the different ways that you can add a beautiful visual to your wedding with ribbons, colourful fabrics, tissue paper garlands or pom poms. Of course in some cases backdrops are more functional than anything as they may be required to to block out some disastrous interior design, or maybe a faulty window – whatever the reason may be you can’t go too wrong with any of the backdrop ideas below. Oh we love this time of year where the long weekends are welcomed with open arms – the May Bank Holiday Weekend is here and with two busy weddings under our belt this week and just a couple of appointments tomorrow we are so looking forward to time off to relax and spend quality time enjoying good food and the great outdoors! A simple supper…

We recently met with a couple who are planning their wedding and not only are they looking to create a small and intimate event with their closest family and friends but they want to plan a special ‘meal’ rather than a wedding reception where they can chill out and enjoy great food and company. This got us thinking that the meal is the essence of your wedding reception and sometimes so much attention goes into little details such as favours, or the colour of the napkins etc so when putting this blog together we decided to pare it back and look at the wedding reception as a family meal rather than an elaborate event.

With that in mind – this lovely little blog for you today could be saturday supper, sunday brunch or a special wedding meal we love the simplicity of the table setting with the natural flowers, jars of pickle as favours and menu cards. Enjoy. Ax

The White Event

We are delighted to share images with you of the very first White Event which took place last week and was co-hosted by Christina Brosnan of Brosnan Photographic, Deirdre Hynes of Ruby and Bloom and The Bridal Lounge. The White Event was created to help grow the alternative wedding Industry in Ireland and to provide a platform where like-minded couples can meet with wedding vendors who have the same styles and ideas in mind. It was the perfect opportunity not only for suppliers to display their many talents with the themed wedding set-up’s but for brides to enjoy the visual elements of the evening and to hear the great advice and information given by the guest speakers on the night.

The evening was completed not only by Christina & Deirdre’s hard work but also by all the brilliant suppliers and guest speakers who helped make it such a success – Cloudberry Bakery, Me Auld China, Pretty as a Picture, Best of Buds, Covet, Dirty Fabulous, Style Serendipity, White Sage Events and One Fab Day. Many thanks to you all – and we look forward to meeting lots of new brides and suppliers at our next event!!

When looking for new things to inspire us at The Bridal Lounge we mostly find ourselves looking towards the fashion, interior and photography blogs to find ideas that can easily translate into wedding inspiration and a photographer who utterly inspires us is New Yorker Jamie Beck who captured the beautiful images below. We love them for the overall beauty, the timeless elegance and the simplicity of the hair&makeup which are all the key elements in creating the perfect bridal look! We also love the fact that this is a spring inspired fashion shoot but which could easily be used as a bridal fashion shoot too! Enjoy! Ax

Bowled over beauty…..Pippa & Joe’s Real Wedding!

It’s been a while since we brought you a real wedding so to make up to you we have a gem of a wedding to share with you today packed full of elegance, charm and bowling!! Today’s wedding is brought to you by Pippa & Joe who created an incredibly elegant and stylish wedding at Rosedale House in Shankill, which they described as the perfect venue because of it’s lovely relaxed setting and proximity to the sea (and Shankill Bowling Club). We absolutely adore Pippa’s Gemy Couture dress from Myrtle Ivory, which was complimented so perfectly with hair by Mary Smith of Mandikas Ikon and makeup by Deborah Leonard. The brilliant Siobhan Byrne was on hand on the day to capture such beautiful moments shared by Pippa & Joe!! No more words are needed……
